Courtney's parents divorced at the age of seven. Courtney had a relationship with each parent in various phases. Jennifer is her twin sister, and works as an executive in the field of advertising. She studied at Menlo-Atherton High School (Atherton Calif.) and Tamalpais High School (Mill Valley, California) with a graduation ceremony in the year 1985. She was part of the Ensemble Theater Company while she was in high school.
